DID YOU KNOW...?

Eusebi Güell’s admiration of Antoni Gaudí resulted in some of his major landmarks

Eusebi Güell first came across Antoni Gaudí’s work at the 1878 Paris Exhibition where the young Catalan architect had one of his projects on display. Following this chance occurrence, Güell met Gaudí and became a staunch advocate of his work.

It is thanks to this admiration and friendship that such famous works as the Park Güell , the Palau Güell , the Crypt of the Colonia Güell and the Gatehouses of the Güell Estate exist today. All these landmarks are open to visitors and three of them are UNESCO World Heritage Sites.
