One of the most famous events in the city's main festival, the Festes de la Mercè, is undoubtedly the race that bears its name. This competition is notable because it is one of the first to have been organized for charity. Although it has a festive character, it is also competitive for everyone who takes part in it, and since 2010 it has been part of the BCN 10km Challenge.

The Cursa de la Mercè demostrate every year that it is more than just a race, the event is open to all members of the public and has an adapted format. A 2 km circuit where people with intellectual disabilities or reduced mobility, who are physically unable to run a distance of 10 km, will be able to participate. This year, as a new feature, the race includes a family run so that both young and old can enjoy this great popular event.
