The Sant Ponç Festival is one of the oldest and most traditional ones in Catalonia and is dedicated to medicinal remedies, aromatic herbs and culinary essences. The streets of Catalan towns are filled with stalls selling high quality gastronomic products. In Barcelona, the Sant Ponç Festival is centered on the Calle Hospital, which is transformed into a souk filled with the aromas and tastes of aromatic herbs, candy, chocolate, honey, artisan cheese, candied fruit and much more. Sant Ponç is the patron saint of herbalists and, according to the legend, upon coming to Barcelona and witnessing the widespread misery that prevailed, he began to prepare potions and medicinal remedies to cure the city's sick. In gratitude for his work, the Barcelonans decided to create a herb festival in his honor. The festival is rounded off with other activities that start on the night of 10 May with the decoration of the figure of the saint with herbs and flowers. The following day this is carried on a procession through the streets and there is a blessing of the medicinal herbs brought along by those in attendance.

The Grec, Barcelona's keenly anticipated annual festival of music, dance, circus and theater is about to begin. It is a festival that now forms part of the city's cultural landscape and connects fully with its artistic life. This year more than ever the Teatre Grec, which gives its name to the festival, is at the epicenter, but you will be able to see related events at a multitude of venues across Barcelona.
This year's Grec de Barcelona Festival is a celebration of local talent, with artists it has helped to grow and who now represent Barcelona around the world. At the same time, it pays tribute to world masters of the performing arts.

The XVII Puig Classic Sailing Regatta Barcelona is a spectacular competition that should definitely not be missed: over twenty classic and vintage sailing vessels are returning once again to the coast of Barcelona. They represent the participants of this regatta organized by the Royal Yacht Club of Barcelona. Their history and tradition allied to their majesty and beauty take center stage in the city’s port.
112th International Showjumping Competition CSIO Barcelona
This is the eleventh consecutive year that the CSIO Barcelona has welcomed this equestrian competition. It is the Grand Final of the
Longines League of Nations, and is the most important on the international equestrian calendar. A total of ten competitions will be held over four days, including the Trofeu Ciutat de Barcelona and the Copa de SM la Reina-Trofeo Segura Viudas, culminating on Sunday with the Nations Cup Grand Final. Jockeys, amazons, and horses from all over the world will turn out for this high-level show in Barcelona. This year the competition will once again include the PoloPark, a large space for family entertainment, in its commitment to bring the world of horses and the love of animals to the city. 
The Salomon Ultra Pirineu is one of the most hotly anticipated mountain competitions. It is developed in the area surrounding the Bagà sporting pavilion and includes different races: The 100 km Ultra race, the 42km Marathon, the 21km 1/2 Marathon and a night race. A competition for the bravest in an idyllic setting in the Cadí-Moixeró Natural Park.
The Fira ÀPAT brings together producers and makers of the best produce and high quality ingredients on Catalan soil. Led by food industry professionals, the Fira ÀPAT promotes local produce as a way of supporting safety and quality and also in order to support small-scale farmers and agriculturalists.

A new physical and mental challenge will take place on October in Calella. Ironman 70.3 Barcelona is a competition with 3.8 km of swimming, 180 km of cycling and 42.2 km on foot in which 3400 athletes from over 80 countries will compete to reach the finish line. With routes along the Maresme Coast, Ironman 70.3 Barcelona includes two further races: Ironkids for the youngest among us and Irongirl which seeks to boost the participation of women in sports.
