The exhibition Edward Weston at the KBR Fundació Mapfre presents an in-depth anthology of the work of one of the most influential photographers of the 20th century. Curated by Sergio Mah, this exhibition covers all stages of Weston’s career, from his early pictorialist works to his establishment as a central figure of photographic modernism in the United States. A co-founder of Group f/64, Weston is considered one of the pioneers in advocating for straight photography as an autonomous artistic medium, alongside painting and sculpture.

The exhibition brings together nearly 200 photographs and documentary material, offering a deep insight into his work, which is characterized by his ability to capture landscapes and everyday elements in a poetic and interpretative way. Weston’s images are essential to understanding the aesthetics of interwar America, in a context of visual renewal that emphasizes both the natural beauty of landscapes and the exploration of abstract forms through light and shadow.
