André du Colombier - Museu TàpiesBarcelona Art Season, Exhibitions
09/18/2025 - 01/13/2026
The exhibition André du Colombier at Museu Tàpies offers a unique vision of one of the most enigmatic artists of his generation. Through his work, du Colombier creates a new world based on a minimal language, in where the relationship between images and objects plays a central role. His work, marked by deep reflection, challenges the norms of language, transforming it into an abstraction searching for the principle of uncertainty.
Du Colombier's works, loaded with poetic and philosophical elements, play with the repetition of words and phrases, upper and lower case letters, and the alteration of punctuation marks. Through this experimentation, linguistic structures and their meanings are questioned, generating a mysterious and metaphysical ambience. Influenced by artists like On Kawara and Richard Artschwager, his work ranges from concrete poetry to arte povera and conceptualism.
Despite being born in Spain, the work of André du Colombier (Barcelona, 1952 – Paris, 2003) was primarily developed outside the country, without adhering to any specific artistic movement. This exhibition presents a unique opportunity to explore the complexity of his artistic universe.
