Centre de la Platja
The Centre de la Platja is an information centre where you can find out about the environmental, scientific and cultural aspects of Barcelona’s coast. It is located in the arcades overlooking Somorrostro beach, under the seafront promenade, opposite the Hospital del Mar.
From April to September the Centre de la Platja hosts all kinds of activities, including exhibitions, performances, games and panel discussions. It also loans books, newspapers, board games, beach and sand toys and sports equipment free of charge.
The Centre de la Platja also runs activities for schools, groups and families about marine biodiversity, as well as workshops, story-telling sessions and documentary screenings.
You can also go on one of the guided walking tours of the area around the Barcelona coast and get better acquainted with places like the Barceloneta, the wholesale fish market, the beach and the sea wall.
The Laboratori de la Platja, is a beach lab on wheels that visits different places along the Barcelona coast. It runs educational activities for anyone interested in finding out more about the maritime ecosystem and the consequences of climate change, so you can enjoy the beach sustainably.
The Centre de la Platja coordinates initiatives designed to raise awareness about waste and waste collection on the beaches and seabed in order to preserve our biodiversity.
