Font de la Violetera

Raquel Meller, the first internationally renowned female Catalan artiste, has a sculpture in her honor at the end of the Rambla del Paral·lel, in front of Teatre Arnau, the theatre where she made her début.

Francisca Marqués (1888-1962), known by her stage name Raquel Meller, will always be remembered for her most popular song, La Violetera, and Charlie Chaplin immortalized her in his film "City Lights". The statue depicts this female cabaret artiste holding a basket of violets in her hand and with light, flowing movement. It was designed by Josep Viladomat in 1966 and rests on a stone fountain with three taps.
