BD Barcelona Design
In 1972, a group of young architects, including Oscar Tusquets, Pep Bonet, Cristian Cirici, Lluís Clotet and Mireia Riera, set up Bocaccio Design, which later became Bd Barcelona Design. Its mission was to produce, market and sell furniture and objects that were unique and eclectic in design and shape, and to remain committed to creative freedom.
The founders, who were design pioneers in Spain, still own one of the world's most prestigious design companies which has its collections in retailers in 60 countries. Its characteristic feature is its fusion of artisanal processes and the use of the most advanced industrial technology in order to offer exclusive products and stand apart from other companies in the sector.
Fifty years later, you can still visit Bd and its different permanent collections and see a selection of furniture and objects by artists and designers including Jaime Hayon, who is known for his original tables and vases, and Oscar Tusquets, the architect who helped Dalí redesign his famous red-lips sofa.
