Pritzker Prize trail
The Pritzker Prize was created in 1979 by the Americans, Jay and Cindy Pritzker, and honours the world's best living architects. Every year, the Hyatt Foundation awards the prize to the architect or studio whose buildings have best expressed their talent and creativity in the design and implementation of their project. The award also takes into account aspects such as the functionality and quality of the buildings.
During the award ceremony, the prize-winner receives a cash prize and a bronze medallion.
The Pritzker Prize is considered the most prestigious award in the field of architecture. It seeks to encourage and stimulate professionals to continue exploring and inspire greater creativity within their profession.
If you love buildings, Barcelona is the perfect place to be captivated by architectural landmarks. The city has some twenty buildings designed by architects and studios that have won the Pritzker, which is often referred to as “architecture's Nobel”. The Pritzker trail will reveal the architect behind these architectural gems and give you the opportunity to see them up close.
