Murals at the TRAM-Espronceda station

A tram station that has been transformed into an urban temple where colour and line take centre stage in a tribute to early 20th-century abstraction.

The works by the multidisciplinary Catalan artist, Kenor, are an exception in the world of urban art, where the figure usually takes precedence over abstraction. His project, Contacts Physiques, depicts the noise and bustle of the city in a new reading of the cubists and futurists, which attempts to capture the movement of a single object seen from different angles on the tram station walls.

The drab, grey cement surroundings retreat under the force of the colours. A rich palette reproducing a succession of geometrical figures that create a pattern of circles and diagonals in perfect harmony.

The artist invites the passengers to make the most of their waiting time by becoming part of a setting in which music takes shape through the paintbrush. A lifeless, soulless place that acquires new meaning through Kenor's ingenuity. The ability to feel part of a fragment of sound.
