Murals at the TRAM-Besòs station
A hymn to diversity and difference and the multicultural, welcoming and metropolitan city. A tram stop enveloped in colour and optimism. The artist, Amaia Arrazola, accepted the challenge from the transport company to bring a 900 m2 surface to life with two giant murals.
Produced in collaboration with Santiago Jaén, Edjin and Jaume Molera, these vibrant paintings, with their naïve brushstrokes reminiscent of Manga cartoons, show tram users alongside birds native to the area, like the hoopoe and turtle dove. They all reflect an inclusive, environmentally friendly mindset.
Locals reading, tourists looking at the map or getting their tickets ready before boarding, together with optimistic messages, like the one on the young person's T-shirt that reads: Not planet B.
A snapshot brimming with life that covers the walls of the platforms. An urban frieze that will brighten your day before you reach your destination.
